My Minimalist Packing for a Long Weekend Away
As little as possible!
I kind of joke about this… but ultimately that is my goal.
As you may already know I hate lugging a big bag, or any bag for that matter around with me - especially when taking flights. So here is my essentials packing list for a cheeky chilled weekend away!
Obviously it all depends on where you’re going but the majority of my long weekends away are about 3-4 days long and based in European cities. So here you go…

Travel Docs
Passport & Passport case (I love mine - It can hold any print outs you need too!)
Tech
Travel Adaptor - One that not only has a plug but USB ports too!
Phone & Phone Charger & Phone case (my phone case also acts as my wallet)
Portable Charger - I’ve mentioned this one before but I rate it so here you go again…
Camera & Camera Charger - For small packing, I only take a GoPro (or similar - Ash and I have this adventure camera which is pretty good and must less £££)
Clothes
5x Pants (English person speaking here so I mean underwear!!!)
5x Socks (+ tights if needed)
1x Bra
4x Tops
1x Jeans/Trousers OR 1xShorts/Skirt
1x Leggings (comfy for the plane - always PRIORITY!)
1x Jumper/Cardigan (warm but not bulky)
1x Coat (again warm but not too bulky if possible)
1x Trainers (something that you’re going to be happy wearing every day)
1xPair of ‘nice’ shoes e.g. sandals (only if you think you will actually wear them/need them)
1x PJs
*** Now it’s a good point to note that a minimalist wardrobe really does help this idea of packing lighting because most, if not all of my clothing can mix and match to make outfits.
Toiletries
TIP: Just put all of this into a clear travel bag - makes it much easier at airport security!
Glasses & Glasses Case (or contact lenses etc.)
Toothpaste (make sure it’s under 100ml!)
Deodorant (make sure it’s under 100ml!)
Shower gel/2-in-1 shampoo & conditioner (if your hotel doesn’t supply) (under 100ml!)
Contraception
Tampons/Pads
Micro-fiber towel (if your hotel doesn’t supply)
Hair scrunchy (this one is great as its technically waterproof!)
Mascara (+ other makeup if you like..haha) (make sure it’s under 100ml!)
Look its a weekend away - likelihood is you will not need tweezers or 900 different outfit options. Remember that! Pick the clothes you know you’ll look and feel good in any day of the week!
Finally lets look at the…
Bags
Main bag - Strong, multiple compartments and can be taken on the plane as hand luggage!
Day bag - I went for a thin but strong backpack that can be packed away easily.
Fanny pack - If you don’t think you’ll be taking much out during the day opt for this instead.
Toiletries bag - Plain clear bag
